課程概述

這是演講、討論、有定期作業的課程。
宗教對「真理」的宣稱與實踐是文化活動的核心。來自宗教組織對自身宗教的看法常聚焦在教義上,在基督教稱為神學。十九世紀,隨著歐洲強權對世界的支配,神學常被視為研究宗教的平台。但新興學科的興起,與非歐洲文明的認識,宗教與文明的研究把歷史,而不是教義作為客觀研究的課題。這門課程回顧宗教史先在歐洲、後在美國發展的過程,並討論未來在中國/臺灣發展的展望。
 

課程目標
(1)宗教史研究在歐洲與美國的學術界的地位。
(2)瞭解芝加哥學派的宗教史觀
(3)反思中國文化中(各)宗教史的研究
 
課程要求
(1) 閱讀大量的英文作品。
(2) 每週有一位同學指定上課前在課程網站上帶領發問。
(3) 上課中討論。
(4) 學期末學生要交一篇不超過十頁的小論文。(可用翻譯取代)(學生要諮詢老師)
